Welcome to Psychologie—the meeting place of psychology and travel, created to help you find meaning, joy, and self-discovery on the road.

Hi! I’m Katie, the writer behind this space. Think of me as your friendly neighborhood social and cultural psychologist—here to decode the ways travel changes us, expands us, and brings us home to ourselves.

I believe travel is one of the most powerful tools for personal growth. Every journey—whether it’s a weekend road trip, a solo escape abroad, or simply exploring your own city—invites us to step outside routine, gain new perspective, and reimagine who we’re becoming.

That’s why Psychologie exists: to bring together research, storytelling, and inspiration at the crossroads of psychology and travel. Here, you’ll find essays on the psychology of exploration and belonging, guides that weave meaning into itineraries, and reflections designed to help you travel not just farther, but deeper.

Who is Psychologie for?

Psychologie is written for women who are endlessly curious, creative, and intentional. Women who see travel as more than escape—it’s an act of autonomy, artistry, and discovery. If that sounds like you, welcome. You’re in the right place.

About me

I’m Katie—a cultural + social psychologist, travel consultant, and writer. With a PhD in social and cultural psychology and nearly two decades of experience, I’ve spent my career studying how who we are shapes the way we travel, and how travel, in turn, shapes who we’re becoming.

I curate bespoke travel experiences for travelers, using psychology to design trips that foster autonomy, joy, and self-discovery. I’m also a trained yoga and meditation instructor with over 600 hours of certification, an Enneagram 5, a self-proclaimed master Spotify playlist curator, and a sucker for succulents.

One of my favorite pastimes is messily strumming all the latest T. Swift hits on my ukulele. And one of my favorite quotes is this one from Taylor’s rumored distant cousin, Emily Dickinson:

“I am out with lanterns, looking for myself.”

For me, travel is exactly that: a lantern we carry into the world to see ourselves more clearly.

So, welcome. Pack your bags—or simply your imagination. There’s a whole world waiting, and the journey begins here.
